Therefore, multidisciplinary research offers the opportunity to open up new areas of research, tackle complex problems and cover investment in research by opening up the use of knowledge, tools, methods and solutions generated in one discipline to other disciplines. The weaknesses of multidisciplinary research are mainly related to communication problems between people from different disciplines. These problems take longer to solve than conventional research projects would require. [xvi] Every researcher should have respect and sympathy for others and refrain from criticizing and complaining about the other method. This attitude and mindset will contribute to constructive results. Therefore, how to solve the problem requires standardization and coordination. Nowadays, the advantages of the multidisciplinary researcher are widely recognized and the problems associated with it can be solved through strong will and determination. A disciplinary approach works towards a goal by applying already established methods and staying within the limits. This is the normal way to solve problems. There are types of disciplines defined in the process of education and research. The three commonly used and important disciplines are: Interdisciplinary: Integration of knowledge from different disciplines with sophisticated methods. Transdisciplinary: Unifying knowledge beyond the perspective of the discipline. Multidisciplinary: approach the topic from different angles and formulate different perspectives.
Research in everyday language refers to the search for knowledge. This is a scientific search for specific information on a particular topic. Research refers to the systematized method, which consists of defining a problem, gathering facts, formulating hypotheses, analyzing them and arriving at certain conclusions. Increasingly, policymakers and networks of links between research policies are calling for a greater focus on the use of research. [i] It is an arduous march to discovery – a movement from the known to the unknown. Look at the research journey and try to better understand the facts. [xvi] Lawrence A. Baker, “Perils and pleasures of multidisciplinary research,” (2006) 9 Urban Ecosystems 45–47 at 45 Communication and Law brings together legal and communication scholars to discuss both generally and specifically the theoretical and methodological approaches that can be used to study the First Amendment and general communications law issues.
The volume aims to help PhD students and researchers of all skill levels to think about new approaches to communications law issues by providing an overview of the multidisciplinary work available today. It aims to challenge the conventional notion that traditional legal research and methodological approaches in the social sciences are mutually exclusive. This book is designed for researchers working in the fields of mass communication and law, and is suitable for PhD students and academics. It will also appeal to those in psychology, political science and other fields who are interested in examining legal issues in their research. Multidisciplinary research is of great importance to examine all aspects of a problem. Lawrence A. Baker described “multidisciplinary research as a potential pot of gold.” It minimizes the partial or unilateral outcome of the problem. As already mentioned, human life is influenced by various factors, therefore, the isolated study of one aspect, that is, in the absence of other disciplines, would not give a clear picture. The disciplines are separate from each other, but this is only true academically. In fact, this is not the case. There is overlap in many places. Therefore, the study of a subject necessarily requires the use of other disciplines.
The multidisciplinary research approach in this context shows its importance in discovering the global aspect. Modern society is changing very rapidly and the problems that arise in one discipline arise with the relationship with other disciplines. This requires a multidisciplinary approach, which is a comprehensive approach. The interdependence of disciplines can be observed in everyday social life. In addition to social affairs, economics and politics, the natural sciences in general, physics, chemistry and mathematics are related and important for humans. With this in mind, it is easy to understand the importance of a multidisciplinary approach. The objectivity that serves a multidisciplinary approach provides the opportunity to observe different points of view on a particular topic. Man has come a long way in his quest to progress in all areas. All the achievements that man has visited are due to his curiosity and abundant curiosity. Man is the most wonderful creature on earth and has a well-developed brain. This body helped him a great deal to realize his wishes.
With the help of his innovative character and curious inclination, man discovered many secrets and secrets of the earth. As a result, our modern society today is full of amazing advances and great inventions. Academically, our progress is par excellence. But we still have a long way to go. In addition to scientific developments and inventions, the concept of globalization, liberalization, postmodernism, cybernetism has raised many problems and challenges. All these problems are peculiar and enormous.
